Greek HW Keyboard 1.01

The Greek Layout for Hardware Keyboards addresses a notable gap in the Android Jelly Bean operating system, which added support for physical keyboards but lacked an included Greek layout. This package successfully introduces the Greek layout (Ελληνικά GR) to Android devices.

Most of the extended Greek layout has been implemented, though polytonic characters remain outside the current scope. Users with a connected hardware keyboard can navigate to "Language & input" settings, scroll to "Physical keyboard," and select their keyboard. By pressing "Set up keyboard layouts" in the popup dialog, users can then choose the "Ελληνικά (GR)" layout alongside any other necessary layouts. Keyboard layouts can be switched using Control + Spacebar.

Special characters can be accessed with the Right Alt key; for instance, Greek quotation marks can be inserted using Right Alt + comma/dot, the euro sign with Right Alt + e, and the Greek semicolon with Right Alt + q.

Known Issues

• The characters ΰ and ΐ cannot be accessed via the expected method, likely due to limitations within the Android system. Instead, users should use Right Alt + υ and Right Alt + ι.
• Accented characters may be unavailable depending on the software keyboard in use. On Android 4.1, switching to the stock software keyboard may resolve these issues when using a hardware keyboard. Android 4.2 generally supports accented characters except within certain applications, although some software keyboards like SwiftKey may address this issue; however, this may incur additional cost.
• Support for configuring external keyboards has been removed from many LG devices.

This application is free and open source, with plans to upload the code to GitHub shortly. It is noteworthy that it does not incorporate any form of advertising or user tracking.
